$50 challange

As promised on my facebook page yesterday, I made a challenge for myself today ...spend only 50.00 on groceries. Here is my details...

Of course I went to Albertsons...again I am sorry it is just really convenient for me and often they really do have some awesome deals.

( Excuse the bug on my roof :p )
My biggest draw to Albertsons is their box top for education promotions. Here is a link to my local promotion...Here

My first 10
4 Totino's pizza rolls
4 Totino's pizzas
2 Grands Biscuits...
All of these were a 1.00 each when you buy 10, but then we add the coupons! You can use these...
Betty Crocker Coupons    just sign up! Then you can print up to 2 of each coupon.
ok So I used 1.00 off of 4 pizzas = 3.00
.40 off of one pizza rolls ( manufacture clipped coupons) and .35 off of 2 printable coupon =3.25
.30 off of 2 biscuits printable....85 each or 1.70
Total for this 10 = 7.95
A savings of $2.05
Do not use this photocopy!
My next 10
2 boxes of Cheerios
2 boxes of Cookie Crisp
4 Progresso soups
3 grands biscuits ( yes I realize that is 11, I will explain)

So as you see in the picture above I used 2 printable coupons from smart source.com
for the cereal... on sale they are 1.99 each so w/ the above mentioned coupon I got each set of 2 for 2.98   1.49 a box

I used a coupon from the same website for the Progresso soups. on sale they were 1.29 each, with the coupon total price was 4.20 or 1.05 a can

Thanks to my little model! See the peelie (coupon) on top of the can he is holding? It is for .30 off of 3 grands biscuits. Again these were on sale for 1.00 each (although realizing now that by buying 3 of them I paid 1.50 for one of them ) so total for the three is $3.20 or 1.07 a can .
So total for these 10 was =

$13.36

Not as good as the first 10 but I saved 3.30
I ALWAYS grab at least one set of these bogo  (buy one get one free ) specials so 2 packages for a total of $8.88
Also I got super lucky with these deals...
Just because they are discounted does not mean they are bad, it means you either . All this means is that you need to either use them quickly or freeze them as soon as you get home. These "manager specials" were on the chicken shown and the steaks underneath them. The chicken I got for a little over 3.00 and the steaks I got for a little over 4.00 so Approx. Total 7.00

I was also thrilled to find this managers special...

This is awesome! OK so these are already on special for 2.99...2.00 means I paid .99! ( This particular product expires on the 14th so i will use it tonight or tomorrow)
I also bought another one because I had a coupon for 1.00 off (and wasn't sure I could combine with the managers special) so my second one cost 1.99

When pasta is on sale I go crazy! I love pasta! American Beauty pasta is on sale for 1.00 each so I bought 3 different kinds of pasta.

I could have planned this part a bit better and I think it is part of the reason why I went a little over budget...I will get there, anyway Barilla pasta sauce is yummy and I knew that Saving Star had a coupon for it, so that I will get 1.00 rebate later, however! The rebate is for the sauce and the barilla pasta :(
So I paid 3.49 for a jar of pasta sauce
Last week ( I forgot to post my trip last week but I really want to be better at that) I bought 10 for 10 Nalley's chilli at Safeway...But one can not live on chili alone. So today i used a manufactures coupon from last weeks "moments" insert for 1.00 off of 2 bags of Frito's. They were 2.99 a bag so total = 4.98

I think that is the other thing that put me over budget :(

Yes I said it twice now, I was over budget. My goal was 50.00... I spent $56.00
For all of this!

So what do you think?
How did I do?

Peelie Heaven!

Ok I am sorry, I really should say that Albertsons is not the only store that has amazing deals but for me it's the most convienet and really does have some awesome deals! I have also decided to try a new approach to my blogs so we will see how this goes...
In my opinion this is the best thing Albertsons has ever done. It is only going on this week. All of those random change coupons that you have saved...you can round up to a dollar this week! But the three best deals I found today were from peelies.
What are peelies...See the pink coupon on the above package? That is a peelie. coupons that you can peel and use when you get to the check out but don't do this....
I took this picture at Target when I first started couponing. If it is an awesome peelie, don't take it off the product! Not unless you plan on buying the product that day! Or else other people will not be able to take advantage of the deal.
Ok off my soap box and back to subject at hand
I always look at this part of the ad. Sometimes it's not worth my time but other times it is a life saver!
ok so good to great on this promo this week.
So the "peelies" on these were actually coupons that were taped onto the boxes. 1.00 off of 2
buy 10 without the coupon = 14.90
find 5 of the 1.00 off coupons ( I think these are in the new savings book up front) = 9.90 for all of them or .99 a box

They have these on the promo as well.  These were in a display up front, w/ peelies!
buy 10 = 14.90
use 10 peelies ( because the coupon is for .55 off of 1) and ROUND UP!
final total = 4.90 or .49 a box!

BEST DEAL!
( we use these for the holidays, lots of great recipes, might post the banana pudding recipe)

ok 10 of these are 7.50
wonderful peelie on the display said .55 off of 2
Grab 5 peelies!
ROUND UP!
2.50 total or .25 a box! :)
I did a whole bunch of shopping today but these were my 3 best deals... more blogs to come :)

Not a bad day at Fred Meyer

I used to actually get stomach aches when I would walk into Fred Meyer!
I think I have mentioned this before so for you non-northwest people, Fred Meyer is a lot like Kroger. You can load coupons on to your card, sometimes they have store coupons and sometimes you have manufactures coupons. But when you can combine them!!!!!!!!!!!! It is just plain awesome!

OK So here is the run down. These are my best deals
My mom is a huge University of Oregon Ducks fan. This t-shirt was on clearance for 4.97!
Also my kids needed new under ware, thankfully they had a sale b1g1 1/2 off. My daughter's was 8.99, my son's was 3.49
I also grabbed a long sleeve shirt for my 9 month old nephew for 5.00
BUT.... I also had a coupon for 20% off apparel... total for all of this was $17.96

I also *thought I needed some Cd's for my photography business that I started ( Unfortunatley my home computer doesn't want to burn any pictures) I actually got the pack with 30 in it. It was on sale for 9.99 and I had a coupon for 20% off of any recording devices making it 7.00

Then it was body wash extravaganza lol my own title, not there is. I have some older manufactures coupons ...first for Axe shower gel ( Love the smell of it!)

I had a b1g1free coupon and a Freddy's loaded coupon for 2.00 off when you buy 2....so final price for 2 of them was 1.89 :) .95 cents each

Suave body wash is on sale for 1.49 a bottle. Freddy's loadable coupon was 1.00 off of 2 and I had a manufactures coupon for b2 g 1 free so for this deal total cost was 1.98 or .66 a bottle!
I Bought this for my kids...
These were also 1.49 a bottle and the loaded coupon for this was .50 off of 2...so total was 2.50
My last deal of the night was Suave Professionals
These were also on sale for 1.49 each ( how lucky am I right?) I had a loaded coupon for 1.00 off of 2. I also had a manufactures coupon for b1 get a free can of Dry shampoo. If you have never used dry shampoo I highly recommend it. Some mornings being a busy mom I know I can't take a shower until night so a quick spray and putting my hair up and my hair doesn't get all gross and greasy! Anyway back on subject....So I got the dry shampoo , shampoo and conditioner...for 1.98 or .66 a bottle ( my lucky number for the day.)

Total spent $33.31
I saved $18.35

Can't resist the doublers!

First I am going to apologize, if your area does not have a store that doubles, or combines store coupons with manufacturers coupons I really do feel for you. A lot of the deals I have done lately have been because of one or the other.

Every once in a while Albertsons puts "Twice the value" coupons in the Sunday paper. They will double up to a dollar on 3 manufacturers coupons. Today it was announced that if you like Albertsons on Facebook you can now print out a double coupon!!!!!!!!!!

So, I decided to take my chances and go to the store on a Sunday at 4 pm.
Total for all you see in this picture before coupons was $86.83 ( without preferred card or promotional deals)
Total I paid out the door....$46.43 a total savings of 47%

Here is what I did.
I decided to take advantage of the Hamburger Helper deal again but this time I bought 8 instead of 10. (Incidentally, I now have 20 boxes of this in my storage room alone!) With the promo savings of .50 each when you buy 10 participating products it was 4.00
I used 1 more 1.00 off of 5 coupon and .75 off of 3 coupon...total paid 2.25 or 30 a box, and got another Catalina print out for 2.00 off my next meat purchase.

Also on the box top deal
2 boxes of Betty Crocker potatoes .50 each - .50 off of 2 = .25 a box
2 Pillsbury refrigerated cookie dough
Lucky Peelie! LOL

1.99 - .55 off of 2 peelie = 3.43 or roughly 1.70 each

2 boxes of gushers fruit snacks 1.99 ea - .50 off of 2 = 3.43
3 boxes of general mills Cinnamon Toast Crunch 1,99 each - 1.00 off of 3 = 4.97
and 2 Pillsbury refrigerated cinnamon rolls 1.99 each - .75 off of 2 = 3.23
( i went over ten to compensate for the 8 boxes of hamburger helper)

Total = 16.08 - 3 twice the value coupons = 13.08!

My kids needed drinks so I used the new coupon book in front. It was 1.00 off of 2 Sprite 8 packs = 8.38 (including deposit)

My mom really likes the new Mentos gum so I bought 3 of those @ 1.49 ea 4.47- 1.00 coupon = 3.47

Saving Star  has these "coupons" that I previously loaded to my albertsons card...

The Rhodes rolls were 2.99 each and I had 2 coupons for .75 off...= 4.48 for both( 2.24 each) when it registers on Saving star I will get .75 back actually making it 3.73 or 1.87 each!

The Foster Farms corn dogs had a 2.00 peelie on them! So it was 7.49 - 2.00 = 5.49 and when it registers on Saving Star ( I get a dollar ) it actually makes it 4.49 for 44 mini corn dogs!

All in all some great deals today and I walked out with 35 box tops! I will most likely go shopping again on Wednesday :D

Labor day...Christmas shopping?

In my last post I mentioned that I wanted to start Christmas shopping this month, then I mentioned the family game night board game coupons....Now I can say that there is a really good deal at Target!

Buy one of these games and get a free Market Pantry pizza!....So say for instance you grab the $4.00 off coupon on Guess Who, Sorry, Scrabble, Connect Four, Life or Operation.

Before coupon these games are 12.00
Use the coupon and you pay only $8.00
Save the games for Christmas and stock up on pizza at the same time! Love it!

The family game night website will allow you to print the coupons twice from each computer.

Here is my scenario
Yesterday I took advantage of another good deal at Target.
Buy a Bounce dryer bar (5.99) and a bottle of Downey fabric softener (also 5.99)  get a $5.00 Target gift card!

One thing I am not sure I have mentioned yet that you should sign up for is vocal point  . They send you coupons and samples of stuff a lot and one of the most recent deals was for Bounce dryer bars! I received a 2.50 coupon for myself and 1.00 coupons to share with friends. So I used that one and paid 3.49 for the dryer bar.
Then I used a .50 off Downey coupon from last Sunday's P&G insert and paid 5.49
total = 8.98

Since my kids were with me I am going to go back tomorrow and pick up Operation and Connect Four. Use my 5.00 gift card and 2 $4.00 coupons for the board games...pay 11.00 and get 2 games and 2 pizzas! good deal right? I thought so.

It's September

Ok I have decided that being busy is no excuse to not post anything so (don't hold me to this) I am making a bigger effort into posting. What have I been up to? College, family and photography. I have been hard at work trying to keep my grades up and I really want to start my own photography business, so I have started playing around with that.

So, it's the beginning of the month. That means it is time to print out new coupons. I used to go to coupons.com, however I found out that through my points.com you can earn points every time you redeem your printable coupons.

For other coupons I go here Smart source and here coupon network .

Also I regularly check printable coupons and deals , where I found these coupons.

This sight has a lot of the family game night coupons available, and this year I have sworn (like I have other years before) that I am going to start my Christmas shopping this month. I have seen most of these games at Wal-Mart for $5.00 each and most of the coupons from this sight have been 3.00 and 4.00 off! If I don't buy them for my kids I will defiantly donate them to toys for tots (later on this year I will post my toys for tots story).

Also I will be updating my face book profile friend me on face book!

So, hope you all haven't forgotten me and i am vowing not to let you down!

I'm still here

I'm sorry I am not "Suzy blogger" that can remember to do a blog post on a regular basis. I really do try to remember but I don't always have a lot to say. If you have a face book add me by clicking here
I usually remember to post the deals I find from face book and other bloggers directly on my face book. So that makes things a lot more regular.

Also another quick note. The prior post is a wedding announcement I made on Shutterfly. I was introduced to Shutterfly when I was a stay at home mom and regularly was on CafeMom. I was part of a chosen group to try out Shutterfly's photo book service. It was amazing and I was hooked from there on.If you haven't signed up with shutterfly I highly recommend it. They have sales all of the time and they do everything from let you have your own share sight (for free) to get prints in the mail, to photo gifts like photo books and calenders. check them out here

what would you have done?

WHat would you have done?
I went to Albertsons with 4 of the $1.00 off Catalinas and only had $6.00 on my food stamps. I grabbed a thing of Deli Fresh Oscar Mayer and 2 bottles of Palmolive. I had a dollar coupon for the meat and (2) .25 off coupons for the Palmolive. I was thinking that I could use the $4.00 for the Palmolive and use my food stamps for the meat. Maybe I should have done 2 seperate transactions...I went to a checker I was not familiar with (there wasn't any checkers that I knew) and she wrang up everything (after asking another cashier why she couldn't see the coupons coming off?) and then took my coupons. I slid my foodstamp card through and it wouldn't work. So I figured that ment that the 1.00 catalinas came off of my food purchase. I couldn't afford the Palmolive that way because I only had a dollar cash to my name. So I explained to her that I wanted to use the 1.00 off meat coupon on the meat and then use the 4.00 off for the Palmolive. maybe I didn't say it right because she used the 4.00 off of the meat, my final total for the meat was .59 . Then she wanted to ring up the palmolive. By this time we had a big line and my kids were distracting me a bit. So I appologized for the misunderstanding and gave her back the palmolive and got those coupons back from her. She just stared at me dumbfounded and asked if I had a cash card. Again I explained that I had the foodstamp card and only one dollar cash. She still didn't understand so I just wished her a good night and left. I was so mad! Do I have a right to be? Maybe I misunderstood how those catalinas work when you use them in a transaction that you have both food and non food items? Anyone have any info on this? What would you have done?

and after school I went back to Albertsons

I couldn't resist! I am having way too much fun with this promotion!
So my husband and I went back to Albertsons tonight after I got home from school. I forgot about the coupons that I took a picture of for the first blog of the night so I wanted to use them, and when we did out first transaction my husband had mentioned that he needed new blades for his Gillette Fushion.

So here we go, I bought 2 more tubes of toothpaste ...1.50 after coupons ( and ofcourse I received another $1.00 back Catalina)

I also noticed that the Gillette Fushion's were on sale for 9.99. I had a coupn for $4.00 off so that would make it 5.99

well... I also brought along with me the $5.00 Catalina

my total for tonights shopping trip

$2.49!

...And then I went to Walgreens

So I personally have had some mixed results at Walgreens. Some days i canreall get a good deal other day I get very frustrated and give up. As I have mentioned before I have a shelf clearer in my area, so a lot of times when I go to Walgreens they are sold out of everything I want.

Today was not a bad day.
I misplaced my receipt but here is what I did.

Huggies wipes are on sale until saturday night for $2.49. If you look around your local Walgreens, they have a summer saving book, that has Walgreens coupons in it that you can combine with manufactures coupons. In the book they had a 1.00 off Huggies wipes coupon, from last Sunday's paper I had .50 off of wipes...I paid 1.00 for wipes!

I also noticed Crest Just for me toothpaste was on sale for 2.49. I had one coupon for $1.00 so I paid 1.49

Walgreens has in Ad coupons as well, the Quilted Northern 9 rolls were in a in ad coupon for 3.99

I have a TON of coupons for Pantene that expire on the 31st of this month...unless I fin a super deal I am going to end up eating those coupons :( Walgreens did have a pretty good sale on Pantene though...buy 1 get 1 50% off. They are 4.99 each so before my coupon it was $7.49 , after my coupon...4.49

and last but not least,  pretzel M&Ms! they were .99 each and I had 2 coupns for .75 off ---total .48!

So grand total before coupons...17.96
total after coupons... $11.45
total sasvings this trip 6.51...................not my best but its a good deal!

My day starting at Albertsons

Day 47
So what does one do with 11.00 to spend at Albertsons??? HeHeHe what fun!
A friend had told me about the deal she got on Crest at Fred Meyer , using the .75 off coupons she was able to buy tubes if Crest for .75 each. (2 for 3.00) and then when she opened the toothpaste it had a 1.00 coupon in it for Oral B toothbrushes that were also on sale 10 for 10. So she went back and got free toothbrushes. Not bad! Actually it was pretty awesome! So I wondered if I could do something similar at Albertsons. They are having those "cash back" ales that I had mentioned before so I did some investigating and as it turns out Crest was on sale at Albertsons 2 for $3.00 as well!

So I took 4 coupons for .75 off of Crest toothpaste so I bought the 4 for 3.00.
I choose the ones with coupons in them too but more on that in a minute.
I also had 2 coupons for 2.00 off of 2 Oral B toothbrushes. They were also on sale 2 for 3.00 so for the 4 - the coupon I bought those for 2.00

I have a friends baby shower to go to on Saturday plus I have a 7 month old nephew that is over at my house regularly. So it was time to stock up on diapers. Huggies are on the cash back sale. I bought 2 jumbo packages of Huggies...9.99 each -2.00 coupon. So total for the diapers was 17.98

I also noticed a deal that wasn't on the cash back promo but I just couldn't pass it up. Johnson and Johnson's products were on sale for 2.99 each and they had a 1.00 Peelie coupon on them. 1.99 each! I couldn't pass it up!

I also used one of my Catalina's for free milk!

And I always seem to have 1 non coupon purchase, this time it was my husbands Full Throttle energy drink ( Have yet to find coupons for those!)

So this would bring my total to.... $28.95
Then I had that $11.00 to cash out....so grand total 17.95
(My total would have been 46.45 without coupons)

But that's not even the best part! I walked in with that 11.00...I walked out with 11.00 in new Catalina's! How you ask? Well I got $1.00 for each pair of Crest tooth paste I bought, $1.00 for each pair of toothbrushes and when you buy 2 pkg.s of diapers you get a $5.00 Catalina! Oh and a $2.00 Catalina from Crest for buying 4 of the toothpaste :D

Now wanna see something else cool?
The coupons that were in my toothpaste boxes.....weren't just dental coupons! I dd get $7.00 off of Crest Whitestrips but I also got 1.00 off of Cover Girl, $1.00 off of Secret Clinical and $1.00 off of Iams pet food :) **Happy Dance**
2 more blogs to write, so I will end this one here :)

OK another quick post about my shopping trip this morning. As you saw in my last post, i decided to do a little recon. yesterday for today's trip. I paid close attention to the Summer Block Party specials, here is what I bought...

My Albertsons Deals for today

Again this is going to be quick, I should be studying for a final but this is much more fun!
Ok so as I have mentioned before Albertsons gives doublers in the Sunday newspapers from time to time. The doublers last for 3 days and today was the last day for this round. So here is what I did.
Albertsosn has a deal you just can't beat on Betty Crocker fruit snacks. When you buy 4 you get a $2.00 catalina back. (this deal will still be going on next week). So I used 2 of these coupons for .50 cents off 2. They are 2.50 each, or 4 for 10, with my double coupons I paid $8.00 for all four.
then I found this deal on Capri Sun
I had a previously printed coupon for $1.00 off of 3 (no longer available) So after i doubled the coupon, I got for $2.97 for all three!

The mentos gum I had to grab for my mom, I paid full price for it but I do have coupons for it that would have made it .48 cents.

So in total I paid around $12.00 for everything and I got these...

Free milk and a total of $4.00 off in Catalinas! so in reality it is like paying around $8.00 for everything! Hope you enjoyed my little haul, I will probably be doing more here soon.

My first try at a match up!

One of my favorite bloggers, Fabulously Frugal actually beat me to this post but for those of you who don't read it, here is my take on the Summer Block Party starting tomorrow at Albertsons.
So here it goes...
You get a $2.00 catalina coupon for every 2 participating items between 7-20 and 7-26
One thing I was able to remember is that facebook has a coupon we can use for this!

According to the fur-gals!, these will be $4.99 each when you by 2 tomorrow but with the facebook coupon for $1.00 off  so it will be $8.98 for 2...then you get the $2.00 catalina so it would really be like paying 6.98 :) so 3.49 a box.

OK the next deal i found was on the Skinny Cow multipack ice creams. again using the intel from ff, these will be 4.99 each as well.
I took a picture of the fudge pops but the deal posted is for the ice cream sandwiches. If you sign up for SavingStar you can get a $1.00 rebate! so again technically it would be the same price as the drumsticks.

since I am running out of time, i am going to let the Fabulously Frugal Gals give you the rest of the match ups. I want to do a quick post on my double deals I did today before I head off to school. So click here for the Fabulously Frugal Albertsons Match Up!

Paperless coupons!

We are very fortunate to have the Internet. As a couponer, you can only get so far redeeming manufactures coupons from your Sunday paper so one thing that I have started really looking into is e coupons.

There are various sights that offer e savings. Some I have tried, some I looked into but haven't really tried.

The first one I tried is a store here in the Northwest called Fred Meyer, I believe they are affiliated or owned by Kroger? Kroger has the same kind of deal so I will just continue with my thought...(it's 1 am on finals week, forgive me if I am a little scatter-brained!) When you register on their site with your rewards card. After that then you can add coupons to your rewards card! It takes about an hour for them to come up on your card but you have less coupons to worry about! Plus at my Fred Meyer they have coupons everywhere! So you can use the instore coupons too!

The other one that I signed up for recently is Safeway, or Randall's or whatever it is called in your area. Again, less coupons to carry and Safeway is one of the few stores that allows store coupons to be used with manufactures coupons. Some even offer double coupons up to .50 cents.

Now for the one that I am still trying to figure out. it's kind of new, it's called Saving Star. if you have read the other blogs like I do, it has been mentioned a couple times. with this sight you can earn $ back and get rebates in the form of gift cards, through paypal or by check. These rebates can take up to thirty days to appear on your account and they start paying out after $5.00 is reached in your account. Find more info here  .

day 36

Total savings this year, $37.33 :)

Ok one thing I have noticed while looking at tomorrow's ads if that everyone is starting their school supply sales. I love school supply shopping! Crazy right? Well as I have said I go to night school, so I use supplies for that and in September my daughter will be starting 3rd grade and my son will be in preschool :) As if that was not enough reasons to buy school supplies here is my other reason...Scrap booking!

I started scrap booking before my daughter was born because my boyfriends mom at the time owned a scrap booking shop. Instead of getting flowers after fights I would get scrap booking supplies and it grew from there! But with a new boyfriend (who ended up being my husband 7 years ago today) I no longer got a free supply of scrap booking goodies so I had to figure out a way to make scrap booking affordable.

There are a couple supplies I will not scrimp on like acid free card stock paper and acid free glue. But when you can find these on clearance or at over stock stores like Big Lots they can be pretty cheap. Also I only buy the 8 and a half by 11 papers...why?

Binders!

Especially the ones with the clear pockets on the outside. I decorate the front and back with my own creative covers. they might not be as professional looking as those store bought books but I don't know about you but I can't stand the way professional books are put together with the screws. That and you have to take the book almost completely apart to add pages. I find it very annoying.

Another reason why I buy 8 and a half by 11 paper is because I can use sheet protectors.
By using the sheet protects I can make sure that my pages stay nice and have the extra protection. I highly recommend this way of scrap booking especially this time of year...it saves so much money!
Example:
@ my local walmart - this album
is $19.99
A scrap booking kit costs $14.99 but the album matches the paper which leaves little room for creativity.

also at my local wal mart
A standard binder like the one shown above is only $3.47 (1/2 inch for smaller scrapbooks, 3 inch binders usually are about $5
25 sheet protectors are $7.94

I usually buy the 100 count. On the website it says that they are $11.94 however, when they go on sale...which should be soon, I can usually buy them for cheaper then that. In the 9 years I have been scrap booking I have only gone through 3 packages of sheet protectors and have 6 scrapbooks that I have used them in :) In the long run, my way is much cheaper. Maybe one of these days when I am not so focused on couponing I will show you my binder scrapbooks. Have a nice day!
